Dead City Breakthrough (Мёртвый город: Прорыв). This is a new mod using Call of Pripyat engine. But you start in the Cordon military base and you then go to the Cordon camp where there is an underground base. This has a Bar and the Technician that can repair weapons. The house where you find Fox in vanilla, has a hatch way outside. Smash the covering and go down a ladder and there is a small room with a stash crate and a bed. A sniper rifle is found here. Take this to the technician in the Cordon and he will repair it for you. Then you must wait for Sidorovitch to call you to arrange a task for you to do. But this is a fun mod. You can run straight to Rostok and then to Red Forest Via Army Warehouses, but it gets quite hard by then, and the player is better served waiting for a task and making some cash to buy a better gun. And you would need a lot of ammo once you are at the Red Forest or Radar.
This mod runs very well, and looks very good, as well as being very stable to boot. The story is completely different to Shadow of Chernobyl. A whole new quest line. Starting in the military base is a whole new take on the Stalker game. The player is friends with Bandits and Free Stalkers from the start. This could be very advantageous, and it would be a good idea to keep it that way as long as possible. Of course, Monolith are enemies. And the Mercenaries at Wild Territory. The familiar snipers are there, so some elements have been kept. Therefore, a very nice alternative to Call of Chernobyl if the player wants a fun foray into the zone. There are blowouts in the zone, just as in Call of Pripyat. But there are plenty of options for shelter in the Cordon, the basement next to the house where Fox is in SoC, the Farm, and the Cordon Stalker camp. Cordon stalker camp basement reminds me of the Cordon underground in Lost Alpha DC. That was a very nice long tunnel, that west all the way from the tunnel under the railway bridge, to the railway underpass.
Strangely, I walked up to the gate in Clear Sky base in the swamps and I was teleported to Dead City. But this is a good thing. There is a building there full of Mercs. But there are a lot of zombies that can be looted to get a lot of potential money. This is not so bad at all. That is rather like getting the first stash in NS OP 2.1 You get the piece of paper under a sheet of tin in the Stalker village, then go to the Darkscape tunnel in Cordon and walk up to the right of it where it touches the fence, and you are teleported on top of the tunnel to pick up the stash contents. This means you can drop grenades onto the zombies below. Narodnaya Solyanka is too involved for some people, but others love the in-depth collector stashes and fights. Dead City Breakthrough is a mod for Call of Pripyat fans that want other maps as well. A very nice find on stalkerportal.ru. This has the labs and stashes that do not necessarily have the access cards handed to you, you must do the searching yourself.

There are a few ways to make money in this mod, but going to Dead City from Swamps and looting zombies is the best one. This can net you a few artifact detectors and weapons that can be sold. As well as a lot of ammo to support further forays into the Dead City. Well worth a download. Just extract this to an empty folder and run, NOT Program Files. This does not even need Call of Pripyat installed. So if you are a fan of Call of Chernobyl, give this a go and see what you think.
